Besides watches, another thing I’m really into is sneakers. Just like with watches, my interest (and budget) for sneakers has changed depending on the season of life I’ve been in.
During my thirties, I kind of lost interest in sneakers altogether. I just wore whatever felt comfortable — I didn’t care if they were cheap or what anyone thought about them. Function mattered more than form.
But then something shifted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Out of nowhere, the sneaker bug bit me again — and this time, it came with a surprising twist: I found myself gravitating towards the Puma brand. I can’t fully explain why, but something about their designs just resonated with me. Bright colours, bold lines, and a playful confidence that felt fresh. Now, I’ve got a growing collection of colourful Puma sneakers.
What’s interesting is how my love for watches has started to cross over into my sneaker obsession. I often find myself matching my watch straps to my sneakers — something I never imagined I’d care about before. But there’s something really satisfying about pulling together a look where the timepiece on your wrist and the sneakers on your feet are in sync.
What I’ve come to appreciate is the craftsmanship in both. The same attention to detail, design innovation, and personal expression you find in watches, you can also find in a great pair of sneakers. Both are wearable art — functional, expressive, and collectible.
I think this is a passion that will stick with me for a long time.
